Fascinated by the continually changing world around her,Amy Veldman-Wilson draws her artistic inspiration from contemplation of the enchanting environment which the ocean surrounding her creates with such force.Guided by sheer feelings, she creates vibrant abstract paintings in which numerous, rythmic veils of colour produce elegant results with profound intensity.
With her art,Veldman-Wilson captures our gaze but, even more, our emotions, which are aroused by the rare, refined and harmonious structural and coluor compostion which marks her pictures.Colour such an intrigueing protagonist, has a vibrant and sometimes tangible consistency;the artist feels very much at ease spacing and emphasising the paint in its various tones in the colour range, from strong, deep hues, such as red, blue, magenta and violet- to the paler, more delicate ones;the effect of this is an intense vitality of colour,in which the handling of the paint ends up being no longer distinct because it is absorbed by the colour that is spread across wide backgrounds, making light and space.
Viewing these pictures ,in which the artist presents and boldly projects various memories, reminiscences and places, gives rise to an absorbing visual and emotional impact;the onlooker, catching just a trace of this,is fascinated and drawn by it,driven sweepingly on to a long journey made up of fantasy, rythm, and balance.
